It’s the perfect opportunity for visitors to meet and mingle with friends of La Pommerie tennis. Teams are drawn by lot and changed every half-hour. Everyone is welcome, whatever your calibre. Thanks to Michel C. for supervising this activity.

To play the next day

Every day (except Saturday because of the Sunday morning hodgepodge), from 5 p.m. onwards, players can book online for the following day..

To play on the same day

Players have priority to reserve courts until 11 a.m., only if they have not already played in the morning. Otherwise, they are asked to wait, in order to promote accessibility for all, and especially for visitors coming for the day only.

For children aged 6 to 13

Youngsters aged 6 to 13 can sign up to play at 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.. They can also play during other periods if courts are available. In all cases, adult supervision is mandatory.

Tournaments

tennis2010pavillonTwo tournaments are organized each year: the Pomniom tournament takes place on St-Jean-Baptiste weekend, and the Omnipom tournament on Labour Day weekend.

Pomniom Tournament (St-Jean-Baptiste weekend)

This tournament is designed to challenge all players, whatever their level of play, while fostering team spirit and conviviality: whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s guaranteed fun and challenge for all.

You don’t need a partner to register. Participants play an average of three 45-minute periods, in doubles.

Omnipom Tournament (Labour Day weekend)

To close the official season, the Omnipom tournament features men’s and women’s singles, followed by mixed doubles, all in an elimination format with consolation, weather permitting.

On Sunday evening, everyone is invited to the traditional “terroir” dinner at Les Trois Pommiers. Trophies are awarded to the winners.

To take part in tournaments

  1. You can register on the tennis bulletin board, no later than the Sunday before the tournament. After this date, the committee cannot guarantee a place.
  2. Participants aged 14 and over pay a $10 fee. Tournament registration is free for children aged 6 to 13.

Tennis workshops

To introduce new players (adults and children) to the sport, or to deepen their practice later on, Bernard and his team offer free workshops throughout the season. Keep an eye on our calendar of activities. Racquets are available to participants as needed.

The drawing competition

Since 1995, members and visitors to La Pommerie have been creating tennis-themed drawings. Each year, a drawing has been chosen to be printed on “gaminets”, which are used to reward the winners of the current year’s Pomniom tournament, as well as to finance the activities of the tennis club and its foundation..

Friends of Tennis community projects

In 2007, the tennis players decided to get more involved in the Pommerie community. They have created a fund that will be used for various projects chosen in harmony with the objectives and mission of La Pommerie.

Participation in this fund is strictly voluntary. In this way, tennis remains free and accessible to all.

salle-jeuxDSC01640_240X180The initial project in 2008

The initial project was to improve the village’s user-friendliness: the play areas for youngsters and the ping-pong room were refreshed, the soccer field reinstalled, and the restaurant room fitted out near the foyer to make it more comfortable and inviting…The first fundraising event, improvised during the last weeks of September 2007, raised $1,125.

agresDSC01577Subsequent projects

Subsequently, a budget of $1,000 per year was allocated to various projects, among others:

  • The purchase of deckchairs and adirondack at the pool.
  • Creating a gym near the restaurant.
  • The purchase of toys for children and equipment for adult sports and leisure activities.
  • The purchase of furniture and the fitting-out of the Cosmos room, used for shows.
  • La billardise: purchase of a sports TV, replacement or reconditioning of billiard equipment, including the 2 table mats.
  • Purchase of a tire compressor and bike-bixi repair equipment.

The Bixis

Since 2013, a bike park has been available for visitors of all ages to discover our little corner of paradise. Members’ old bikes are collected and our friend Joseph, in his workshop “le bixirium”, repairs them voluntarily for the pleasure of users.

The “Cols Verts”

In 2010, friends of tennis formed this group, open to all, called the cols verts.
Their mission is to promote the ecological aspect of La Pommerie.

Some completed projects:

  • The purchase of wheelbarrows to transport branches, leaves and apples to the composting site
  • Promoting composting, including a video produced in 2019 (french)
  • Subsidies to promote the replacement of polluting lawnmowers with battery-powered ones.
  • Purchase of water collection bins.

BEYOND DOLLARS…

Friends of tennis take great pride in contributing to the well-being of their community. Their involvement in a number of projects is proof of this. In 2009, they helped build the pergola in front of the restaurant. That same year, they put forward the idea of an ecological trail (now called the Réfléchissoir) and, along with other members of the Pommerie, helped build it near the melbas 3.

The Pommerie Tennis Committee

Objectives

  1. Ensure that tennis at La Pommerie is a sport accessible to all, members and visitors, beginners and experts, young and old, etc…
  2. To promote tennis, in a spirit of conviviality as much as a sporting challenge.
  3. Create a harmonious, supportive, respectful and jovial group and ensure that tennis never becomes a closed, elitist and/or individualistic network..

Code tennis Pommerie

  • Shoes: to protect the court surface, players must wear shoes with non-marking soles. Shoe color need not be white, but no marks should be left on the courts. Benches are set up near both entrances to enable players to put on their shoes on the spot, and mats are provided for wiping off shoes to avoid entering the court with stones under their soles, which damage the surfaces. In any case, to avoid unnecessary injuries, we recommend that you wear shoes specially designed for this sport.
  • Attire: must follow the general rules required by La Pommerie. For reasons of hygiene and sporting comfort, the wearing of accessories or appropriate clothing is permitted if it is in harmony with the nature and philosophy of La Pommerie.
  • Respect playing times and reservation policies to enable as many people as possible to use the courts.
  • During play periods, use entrances only during breaks, and as discreetly as possible to encourage players to concentrate. Please use the back door to get to court 3.
  • Eating and smoking are not permitted on the tennis courts: of course, water and non-alcoholic beverages may be consumed.
  • Safety: non-players are asked to wait outside the courts so as not to disturb the players and to avoid unnecessary injury.
