Whether you’re new to birds or an expert new to La Pommerie, this site should help you discover how birds are an important part of our quality of life.
La Pommerie is an ideal spot for birdwatching. Located in the extreme south of Quebec, it offers a varied environment conducive to the observation of numerous bird species; the presence of several nesting boxes and feeding stations designed to attract birds contributes to their easy observation throughout the grounds.
Before you start looking for birds, you can…
- Consult Bird capsules (french) which can provide answers to questions you may already have asked yourself, such as: Why are there differences in plumage between the sexes? Why is it always the male who looks best? Who sings: male or female?
- Consult The birds of La Pommerie, a world to explore (french) : This section covers topics such as bird names, bird songs and calls, and more.
- Do a quiz on the birds of La Pommerie (french). The quiz is interactive and gives access to the answers.
- Do 12-bird puzzles from La Pommerie (french) while listening to their singing. Puzzles for kids of all ages!
Search for birds (french)
- Below are four tools for finding birds from La Pommerie :
- By “bird family”
- By sector of La Pommerie
- By name
- Or to find the birds who frequent the feeders (french)(including pine-tree logs, suet logs and hummingbird troughs)
For each bird species, you’ll find a description, behavior, song and more. Please note that the vast majority of photos were taken by members of La Pommerie.
Search by “family” (french) (Note: these are not families as defined by ornithologists, but rather “useful groupings” of birds with a similar “style”).
